About Me
My name is Marit. I am a multidisciplinary maker with a focus on photography, bioart, and spatial work. I work in an experimental and playful manner using both analog and digital techniques to tell stories in an immersive way.
As a future-oriented media and bioart artist, I concern myself with the role of media art in a more sustainable world. Therefore, I ask the question: how can creative and creating processes be shaped reciprocally and circularly? An important part of this, I believe, is how we relate to ‘the other’: other people or other life forms.
I view art as an important means of communication and education. Art can translate and shape stories, experiences, and perceptions for a broader audience and create a better understanding of others.
I raise questions about ethical makership by, among other things, working with biodegradable material made with bacteria. One of the goals is to interest people in simple, sustainable techniques. I combine these techniques with media art such as photography and film to capture processes at a microscopic level in a unique way.
